Services
I am licensed by the State of Florida Department of Health to provide clinical social work services to persons who live in Florida. I work with individual and couples by appointment, only. Counseling sessions, also known as therapy or psychotherapy, are 50 minutes in length. My focus is on helping clients achieve wellness in the present and enjoy the vitality of a purposeful life. My teletherapy practice is not set up for clients experiencing a current acute crisis. If my training background does not match your therapy goals, I will refer you to a colleague or clinic who provides the preferred treatment or approach.
Scheduling and Canceling Appointments
Please call (813) 297-5627 to schedule an appointment. This is not an emergency number. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 2-1-1 for crisis intervention, or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment please call contact me by email or call 813-297-5627 as soon as possible and at least 24 hours prior to the day of your appointment. While I recognize that emergencies do come up, I appreciate your consideration of my professional work-time. Charges equal to the rate for one session will be charged for any cancellations made within 24 hours of appointment time, unless you are able to reschedule during the same week. Please pay these charges before or at your next scheduled appointment. If illness arises suddenly as can happen to any of us, please contact me immediately me to reschedule.
Privacy and Fees
To protect your privacy from third-parties, I do not accept insurance. Since I do not accept insurance, your records will never be released to anyone without your written consent, unless required by law.
Ethics, Litigation, and Fees
I abide by the NASW Code of Ethics, which stresses the protection of client confidentiality and the value to do no harm. Attorney client privilege differs from therapist client confidentiality. There are no guarantees regarding the outcome of releasing confidential information to someone who is not a partner in your healthcare. The release of your private healthcare information requires a signed Release of Information form. My forms read, "attendance only." If you want an attorney to have more than documentation of your attendance in therapy, you can request treatment summary and sign the form. I discourage sharing any private therapy information other than the dates of your attendance. The release of private information to a legal representatives could be harmful to your case, and to you. It has a high risk of harming the therapy relationship and could worsen your symptoms. I discuss unforeseen consequences of releasing information with my clients so that they are fully informed of the risks to your legal case and the potential negative consequences to your therapy.
I charge a professional consultation rate (not your session rate) for any time outside of scheduled client sessions, needed for my communications with a legal representative on your legal case, or by subpoena. If after full disclosure of the risks , client wants me to meet with her/his legal representative, payment for consultation and paperwork transmission will be charged to client and must be prepaid.
Reasonable and Accommodating Rates
I am a self-employed practitioner who offers reasonable rates in alignment with community standards. I will do my best to accommodate your personal situation, or if I am unable to accommodate your needs, I will refer you to low cost community mental health services.
I provide a free initial phone or video consultation to determine if my services match your therapy goals, as well as your financial and appointment scheduling needs. Your session fee is mutually agreed upon prior to scheduling your initial meeting.
I offer a reduced session fee for up to 8 sessions for clients who are motivated to work with me but are experiencing temporary financial burdens, examples are students on financial aid and some job seekers. Financial documentation may be requested. I will review your progress and session fees with you by the 8th session. If your goals for therapy have become more long term and you wish to continue work with me, the session fee might go up following a 30-day notice. If appropriate, I will help you transition to another provider. Please feel free to discuss changes in your financial situation, improvements or anticipated losses, with me at any time during our work together. I will do my best to accommodate changes while at the same time expecting you to make an investment in your therapy that honors the value of my education and counseling experience.

If you anticipate experiencing difficulty meeting a particular session payment, let me know. We may be able to work something out before your next appointment.
